Bio
Lee N. June is a native of Manning
South Carolina. He is married to Shirley Ann
Spencer June and they are the parents of twin
sons, Brian L. and Stephen June. He is active in
his local civic and religious community.
Lee’s educational background includes a bachelor
degree in biology from Tuskegee University, a
Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and
a Masters and a Doctorate of Philosophy degree
in Clinical Psychology, all from the University
of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Additionally, he
has done Post Baccalaureate study in Psychology
(Haverford College), sabbatical study as a
special student at Duke University Divinity
School, and has earned a certificate in Theology
from Interdenominational Theological Center
(Atlanta, Georgia).
He is the editor or co-editor of four books, all
published by Zondervan Press- The Black Family:
Past, Present and Future (1991), Men to Men
(1996), Evangelism and Discipleship in African
American Churches (1999) and Counseling for
Seemingly Impossible Problems (formerly entitled
Counseling in African American Community:
Biblical Approaches to Tough Issues) (2002).
Lee has also authored or co-authored articles
and book chapters in the areas of counseling
/therapy, effective psychological service
delivery, career development, and religious
issues in the African American community.
Currently, he is a Professor and serves as Vice
President for Student Affairs and Services and
Associate Provost for Academic Student Services
and Multicultural Issues at Michigan State
University.
